39 The Healing Benefits of Surrender

Have you ever truly, honestly surrendered with your whole being?

Humans, like the rest of nature are programmed for survival. From the moment we’re born and encounter the world, with safety and security the primary need. When our needs aren’t met, even in the smallest of ways, the nervous systems remembers - the body keeps score. Over time we become conditioned to protect the deepest parts of our soul.

In this episode, I share an experience of vulnerability when the mind surrenders, no longer being a servant to the ego. To unlearn old patterns of programming, we need not only exposure to new experiences, but the courage to linger in the awkward newness while the body acclimates to a new normal.

It’s one thing to surrender in the presence of another aided perhaps by body language, words and emotions. Surrendering - with full faith conviction - to the God intelligence of the universe is quite another, at least it was for me as I witnessed the ego desperately vying for control at the edges of fear.

If this sounds even vaguely familiar I invite you to pause, breathe and remember that all is love. When we choose a new pattern, opening ourselves to love, we begin to reclaim and heal buried parts of our soul.

May you continue to hone discernment as you take what resonates and let the rest fall away.

About the Podcast

When the Heart Calls
Listening inward when something more is calling.
When the Heart Calls is a reflective podcast exploring the moments when life quietly invites us into a different way of seeing, choosing, and participating.

These recordings are field notes from an unfolding journey. They are shared not to teach listeners what to think, but to create the conditions in which they may recognize something already true within themselves.

The three seasons offer living thresholds into that exploration:
Season One — Recognition
Listening for what is becoming recognizable.
Season Two — Participation
Responding to what is revealing itself.
Season Three — Stewardship
Tending a deepening relationship with the field.

There is no prescribed starting point. Listeners are invited to enter wherever something calls—and to trust their own recognition.
